Art Club! Drawing Hair for Middle Schoolers Online
Art Club! Tips for Drawing Hair for Middle Schoolers
Thursday, August 13th, 4:00 - 4:45pm - Live via Zoom! Registration required
Pull out a piece of paper and a pencil and hang with Julie from the Carnegie Center in this live class, Tips for Drawing Hair. During this 45-minute art lesson, Julie will show you her personal tips for drawing hair of different textures and types. The methods in this lesson will build upon previous Art Club! Classes which showed students how to draw the proportions of the human head and face--but don’t worry if you didn’t attend those classes! We will go over some of those basics simultaneously as we focus on the subject of hair on the human head. Prepare to improve your understanding of contour, shading, and gesture--all these things will add to your drawing toolkit. Because this lesson is not pre-recorded, you will be able to ask questions and receive personalized feedback on your technique.
This project is best for ages 5th through 8th grade who have an interest in art, but older children in the household are welcome to participate. This class is inspired in part by this summer’s exhibition Permanent and Natural at the Carnegie Center for Art and History. The show is no longer on view, but you can still check out the virtual exhibition here: http://carnegiecenter.org/exhibitions/permanent-and-natural/
All skill levels are welcome!
