Discovery Day: Mythbusters
January 11, 2019
10 AM-1 PM
Carnegie Center for Art and History

On January 11, the Carnegie Center is launching a new series of FREE family celebrations called Discovery Days. This edition will be on the theme of Mythbusters, combining the arts, history, and science to explore common myths about the world around us. Join in hands-on art-making, a magic performance by J&B Magic Shop, science experiments with a history twist, music from Evan and Vanessa, the Floyd County Library InstaLibrary, yummy local snacks, and much more! The whole museum will come alive for this wonderful all ages experience.  Registration requested below.

Discovery Days: Mythbusters is the first program in a 2020 year-long series called American Mythistory. This series will ask, how do we know what we know about the past, and what myths shape our understanding of history? Stay tuned for more programs, including a visit from a major award-winning author and unique commissioned theatre from an Indiana playwright.

The Carnegie Center has offered Family Fun Workshops each month for generations of children in the community. Discovery Days will be the new model of family engagement, offering large-scale fun a few times each year.

“We recognize that families have limited time, and museums have limited resources,” says Carnegie Center Director Eileen Yanoviak. “So we decided to maximize both, offering a bigger and better museum experience for those families that can only visit us a few times each year.”

For those that will miss the monthly art experience, new Family Art pARTYy programs hosted by the Floyd County Library at the Central Branch are a great option.
