A Cultural History of Notre-Dame de Paris In-Person
On April 15th, 2019, the world watched astonished as Paris's beloved Notre-Dame narrowly survived a raging fire. Join Dr. Eileen Yanoviak to explore the cultural history of this iconic work of French Gothic architecture-from construction and Revolution, to reconstruction and popular imagination. The centuries-old church is a testament to the endurance of faith, culture, and artistic achievement despite a rapidly changing world. This discussion will take place in the auditorium at the Floyd County Library.
Dr. Yanoviak will also host a book discussion on May 18 at 10:30 AM featuring The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo at the Carnegie Center for Art and History. Brunch is included. The program is free, but registration is required by clicking here.
