Revolutionary Artists: Miniature Portraits In-Person

Step back in time and strike a pose, 18th-century style!  Ever wondered how people captured their likeness before cameras? Why did George Washington dread sitting for his portrait? And what made portraits so meaningful during the Revolutionary era?

Join us for a lively, hands-on program exploring the artists and creative techniques of the 1700s, presented by the Sons of the American Revolution. With a special focus on miniature portraits, you’ll uncover the stories behind these tiny treasures and the big role art played in early American life. Then, try it for yourself by creating your own miniature masterpiece to take home!
