Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

Community Action of Southern Indiana is offering a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) service at The Floyd County Library Auditorium every Thursday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. through April 10. This free tax preparation service is available to individuals and families with an annual income of $64,000 or less. Taxes will be prepared by IRS-certified volunteers in the library’s auditorium at 180 West Spring Street, New Albany.

 

To ensure efficient service, appointments are required. Guests can schedule an appointment by calling 812-590-4064.

 

Individuals are advised to bring:

• A picture ID and Social Security cards for everyone listed on the return W-2s and 1099s from their employers

• Other 1099s for interest, dividends, state tax refund or other income

• 1095 for health insurance

• 1098 for education credit plus detailed financial statement from the school

• Bank account number and routing number for direct deposit

• Child-care information including Provider ID and actual amounts paid

• Summarized list of other income/expenses for those who itemize or are self-employed

• Property tax paid on residents or rental information

• Any additional tax information that may be required
