Dusting Off the Classics Book Group-- Their Eyes Were Watching God

Dusting Off the Classics Book Group-- Their Eyes Were Watching God In-Person / Online

Join us for “Dusting Off the Classics." We will be meeting in the auditorium at the lower level of the library, or you may join us virtually.

This month's selection is Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. One of the most important and enduring books of the twentieth century, Their Eyes Were Watching God brings to life a Southern love story with the wit and pathos found only in the writing of Zora Neale Hurston. Out of print for almost thirty years—due largely to initial audiences’ rejection of its strong black female protagonist—Hurston’s classic has since its 1978 reissue become perhaps the most widely read and highly acclaimed novel in the canon of African-American literature.

Read it on Hoopla or OverDrive, or pick up a copy in the library in the 4 weeks before the event.

Dusting Off the Classics is presented in partnership with Christopher Proctor, a faculty librarian at IU Southeast.
